Austrian Bronze Pheasant Brass Pen Holders
A beautiful Austrian, 19th century hand-painted bronze pheasant resting on a oval green marble base with brass pen holders. The pheasant is posed in a standing position with its long curved tail feathers extended along the back of the pen rest while its head is turned towards the front of the piece. The bird’s crested head has been cast with a lot of detail and the surface of its body is textured to mimic the appearance of feathers. The Golden Pheasant stands 5″ tall and is 9″ long and 2″ at the widest point of its body. The pen holders is in very good condition, with the left side loose.
The veined in flesh tones marble base of the pen holder measures Length 13″ in x Height 5.50″inย x Depth 7.75″ in. The piece weighs in at 7 lbs.
The condition is very good with a few chips or cracks to the surface of the marble. It also shows appropriate signs of age consisting of wear to the Golden Pheasant’s painted finish. The ย bird’s tail feathers has been inscribed with the word “AUSTRIA”.
This lovely pheasant pen holder displays beautifully and would be a great addition to a library or office. An great antique find!
