Designer Alphonse La Paglia was of Sicilian descent. He worked at Georg Jensen in Denmark and emigrated to the US in the early 1940's and went to work for Fredeick Lunning (Gerg Jensen USA). He spoke fluent Italian and was reported to have worked in U.S. intelligence during the war, going in and out of Italian beaches by submarine between 1942-1945. He made sterling coffee services and candelabra as well as suites of brooches, bracelets, earrings and necklaces using sculptural blossoms, flower buds, leaves, seeds and acorns.
